Our brethren at work…
Today I had the opportunity to volunteer with a phenomenal group of people from our Masonic Family, and other organizations to honor our Veterans both past and present at the Long Beach VA Hospital. There were quite a few members from our Lodge that I saw or got a chance to work with: Mike Selix, Hugo Ramos, John Elwell, Alejo Velarde, (to name a few, sorry if I missed anyone) and the Most Worshipful Russell Charvonia.
As soon as I got there, Mike Selix directed me over to the food service area and I got right to work. I was able to talk with “Russ”, as we were serving lunch and he said that there were approximately 3,000 people that showed up. In addition to the lunch that was served, there were a lot of other services ranging from hair cuts to helping veterans get medical services.
As a Veteran myself, I am honored to help out my fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Although it might not seem like much, one person added to the Masonic Machine really makes a difference in peoples lives. I really find it hard to express how much it really means to me to be a part of a organization that does so much for not just Veterans, but for our whole community.
