From The South – October 2018

Greetings Brethren from the station of Beauty,

As we draw closer to the holidays, I want to take the time to invite everyone to join us for our stated dinner and meetings. Just a reminder that stated dinners are now $5 for the brethren and ladies are FREE! I just hoped that everyone has enjoyed the stated dinners and there are plenty more for you to enjoy. So come join us Wednesday October 3rd as we kick off the Holidays.

The month of October also bring us the 169th Annual Communications Weekend hosted by the Grand Lodge of California. Thousands of Masonic brothers and officers gather together for installations, ceremonies, dinners, meetings and much more. This also gives us the opportunity to have our voices heard through voting of many regulations that may change, or may not.

In 1717, the first Grand lodge was established in London, within the next two decades, freemasonry spread throughout Europe and eventually made its way to the American Colonies. It has been dated that the first lodge organized in America was in Philadelphia in 1730, 3 years later, a Grand Lodge was established in Boston. Washington, Franklin, Hancock, along with other founding fathers were among the first Masons in America. Fast forward a little 119 years during the Gold Rush of 1849, thousands of settlers came to California in search of fortune. Those who were Masons bought with them their rich traditions of Freemasonry who established California’s first Masonic Lodges. 1850 was the year California became a state which is also the year the Grand Lodge of California was established. 1849 was also the very first Annual Communications.

You can learn a lot more Masonic history at freemason.org.

Fraternally,

Luciano Leon
