From the South – June 2018

Brethren,

Summer is right around the corner, even though it’s been a bit cool lately; temperatures are about to heat up. We are having excellent turnouts for our weekly practice. I would like to thank all the officers and the officer’s coach for a great job in putting these practices together. We are going to continue to have practices to build a stronger, tighter brotherhood.

And now… a Brief lesson in History.

In 1848, when the Mexican-American war ended, California became a territory of the United States. California was then transformed from a sleepy province of Mexico into a lively state. With its transformation, Freemasonry came to California. On November 9, 1948, a charter was granted by the Grand Lodge of the District of Colombia for the organization of California Lodge No. 13, which is now known as California Lodge No. 1. On November 15th, 1849 the lodge was officially organized under the charter. Levi Stowell was appointed master of the new lodge and he carried the charter from Washington to San Francisco.

For the month of June’s stated dinner, we are going to have a pulled pork feast!  Be sure to bring your appetite because its going to be a good one. See you there!

Fraternally,

Luciano Leon
