From the South – July 2018

Greetings from the station of Beauty.

July is a month of celebration. As we will be dark Wednesday July 4th as we celebrate the birth of our great country. Stated dinner and meeting will resume the following week on Wednesday July 11th.  We are past the half way point of this masonic year and I would like to thank everyone that has contributed in helping me in the kitchen to prepare these great meals. It’s been a lot of work but it has also been fun. July stated dinner will consist of the good ol’ American feast! Which will feature, Burgers, Hotdogs, with all the fixin’s, Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad and potato chips of sorts and of course, refreshments will be provided as always.

And now, a lesson in history!

July 4th, 1776… this date is important for Freemasons, not only is it celebrated by everyone in this country, but is it also celebrated by our own brothers all around the world! Freemasons are interconnected by the events that took place in 1776. The Declaration of Independence was signed and accepted into Congress as we all know. This date is specifically important to Freemasons because some of the men that influenced the declaration were indeed Freemasons. The Constitution of the United States was most influenced by George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Edmund Rudolph who were, at the time, active Freemasons.

So as we celebrate, let’s celebrate in remembrance of our founding fathers, and those who gave their lives protecting this country so we can have our freedom. July 4th, we celebrate our independence day!

Fraternally,
